Why we started it
For many years, Ancient Origins has published about the ideas, practices and beliefs of ancient cultures. Much of that wisdom is still relevant: how to live well, how to think clearly, how to face difficulty, how to relate to others and to the world around us.
Reading about these ideas is valuable, but it is not the same as putting them into practice. Articles arrive one at a time, on separate subjects. They can spark interest, but they rarely add up to something a person can apply in daily life.
We saw a need for something more complete: a way to learn ancient wisdom coherently, from beginning to end, with the aim of actually using it. That is what the Academy is for.
Learning in cohorts
The courses run in cohorts. A group of students starts together, moves through the material over the same period, and can discuss it along the way. We chose this deliberately. Practical application is easier with a structure to follow and with other people working through the same questions.
Finding the Academy
You can reach the Academy at ancientwisdom.academy, which takes you to ancientorigins.academy. Both addresses lead to the same place, where you can see the courses currently open.
This is a new kind of project for us, and we expect to learn a lot from the first cohorts. We would be glad to see you in one of them.
